Week 24: Oh...uh (subtle laugh)...I don't believe in the mormons...
Happy Happy Halloween!
First of all, the next person to call me a quote on quote "Mormon", is not going to have a happy halloween...lol, but sorry. Tbh, the term mormon sounds like an insult...I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, plz, thank you, next. Basically the way this conversation went was we had a super awesome lesson over the phone with this lady a couple weeks ago, and she said that she would like to come to church with us sometime. Well, we basically get blocked by her. We go over to her apartment, and we unblocked ourselves from her phone (literally lol) because we didn't think she blocked us on purpose, and we didn't really think she knew how to use her phone very well. Anyways. We set up another phone lesson and we're blocked again. 2 weeks go by and we stop by her apartment and she said that today she was pretty busy and couldn't talk. SO...we naturally ask when would be a better time, and she said "Oh, I don't really believe in the mormons, so...." Cool awkward moment, and we were just like "OK!, we'll make a note of that!" I guess she doesn't believe we exist, because that's how she said it. Nothing about our beliefs or anything, she just doesn't believe in us. (lol)
Other fun stuff this week...we had a Dia de Los Muertos parade thing in central park of Henderson this weekend, and it was pretty cool. They sang "Un Poco Loco" from <Coco> Which is like one of the greatest songs Disney has created. Very much enjoyed hearing that song for the first time in a bit.
Also had our Branch Halloween party which was pretty fun. A lot of inactive members came, and it was good to see them there. They had like a black light room where you could write on the walls (covered in banner paper) with highlighters. Needless to say, I glowed like a highlighter in my missionary costume.
Last fun thing of the week, and then I guess I'll say something spiritual...
My family sent a spooky szn package in the mail this week (very fun by the way), but I think one of the funniest lines in it was from Annie Pahulu from my home ward. Not even sure if she (or her mom) is on this email list, but she said, quote "I would like to inform you that I am currently transforming into a SWIFTIE thanks to Janie Boo. I hope you are converting the gentiles..." Ahahahahahaha. I hope I am converting the gentiles too I guess. ahahaha
Anyways, teaching wise, this week had a lot of things fall through. We taught a member a little more about the temple, which was really great. He's never been and thought it was a super complicated thing to do, but we helped him understand that it's pretty easy to get a temple reccommend, and hopefully, he will be able to go soon :)
Our member friend Josh, (the one down at the trade school) also brought another friend this week to church. So he's basically carrying our numbers right now which is fun.
We also had interviews with our mission president on Saturday. Although virtual because he had Covid :( I always appreciate his council and guidance. He encouraged me to continue to press forward through the challenging aspects of missionary work and in my own personal challenges. I have great love for him, and can sense his great love for me. He shared with me Alma 7:23-24, and I really appreciated his words about it. Yes the mission is SO hard, but it is also SO good.
Anyways, I hope you all are doing well, and are enjoying the beginning of the Holiday season!
Until next week!
Love,
Elder Creer
