Week 32: "For Unto You is Born This Day"

 Merry Christmas friends and family!

I hope you have all had an amazing weekend focusing on the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ and enjoying spending time with loved ones!

It has been a week here in Kentucky! Like seriously we've done so much, and it's been awesome!

Last Monday we went caving with the district. Weird. There were bats. Wasn't the most fun, but was a cool experience I guess. I hadn't talked to family yet though, so I was pretty much ready to be done once when it hit 4:30 and we still needed to eat and talk to the fam. We then went caroling as a district for our Monday proselyting hours. Some guy tried to give us $100 for our singing. We declined and said we're not allowed to take money. He insisted that we donated it to our Church. We said no. He then got us brownies instead. (Before walking into the glass door and slamming his face).

We also had interviews this week, which was great as well.

And then we were hit by the winter storm. We were forced to stay inside all day on Friday and most of the day Saturday, and subsequently almost went insane without much to do. BUT, we were able to see some really cool miracles by applying ourselves and calling and video chatting with several people sharing with them Christmas messages. But needless to say, it was well needed to finally get out of the house on Christmas Eve and have dinner with some members.

The members here are seriously amazing. They've loved us so much this Christmas season and have done so much for us. We've practically been fed almost every night the last two weeks, which is amazing. We're truly blessed to be in such an amazing ward. Even when the adults (the non-missionaries) talked uncomfortable politics while my companions and I just stared at each other and said that "this is good steak." Lol

Christmas Day on the mission was unique. Basically felt like a preparation day on a Sunday. We had Church and then called family for a few hours and then went over to an awesome family for dinner for a few more hours. And then we called the district (Elder Callahan is District Leader) for Sunday night calls. Kind of unique, but it was great to help some people come closer to Christ.

Overall, this Christmas season has been one to remember as I've represented the Savior in bringing good tidings of great joy to the people of Kentucky. I look forward to what the new year brings and am excited to continue to serve the Lord. Transfer calls are on New Year's Eve, so we'll see what happens...

I love you all so much, and have a happy New Year!!!
