Week 6: Yaquay Yaquay! (?) but also Jerramon because we were kicked out...

Image
Well hello everyone! I'll get to the subject line in a bit, but overall it's been a busy week in the KLM. Lots of stuff going on, yet lots of cool miracles.  We started teaching 3 new friends this week and they're all really promising. And I definitely realize how naive that sounds, but whatever, you have to have some sort of hope. One of them said that she at first didn't want to open the door, but she did anyway. When we were done talking she said that she really needed it and was glad she let us in. It was pretty funny too, because she talked about us at work as well as with her family and they were shocked that she let us in. Something about us being a cult and brainwashing people or something. Anyways, that was a fun little conversation with her when we met up again yesterday. We were also kicked out of an apartment complex this week which was super fun. Thankfully we can still go back and talk to people that we are already teaching, but it was still a highlight.  ...

Week 5: Musings of a Missionary

Well how's it going everyone? Very busy week here in Henderson. We did a lot of service and didn't have too many lessons (i.e. we did a lot of finding and some knocking on doors which was interesting). We actually don't go knocking door to door anymore because it's not that effective at finding people to teach. Instead we do what's called Spirit-led door knocking. We basically go around and if we feel prompted by the Spirit to knock on a door, we do it. It is actually really cool and works much better than knocking on every door. We've had some pretty promising friends because of it. Anyways, overall it was a good week. We had interviews with our Mission President on Friday which was really nice. I really like President Alder as he's super kind and understanding. He also was kind enough to meet with one of our friends and have a lesson with him despite his crazy busy schedule. This particular friend is going through a lot and if y'all could pray for Alan...

Week 4: Welcome to Kentucky

Image
Well howdy y'all! It's officially been a week of me being in Kentucky! I flew out Monday morning and made my way all the way to Louisville. Nothing too eventful happened on the plane over. I tried to sleep given my 3:30am wake up call, but that didn't really happen, so I was exhausted the rest of the day. Anyways, once we landed in Louisville, we met President and Sister Alder just past security. They are both awesome and love all of their missionaries and missionary work in general. We went over to the mission home, which is kind of near the Louisville Temple and then filled out some paperwork and did some orientation to the mission. They also fed us dinner (all like 19 of us new missionaries) which was really nice. Anyways, that night we stayed in a hotel, and then the next morning we headed over to the Church for some more orientation. A bunch of office missionary couples shared a little more logistical things and then after a few hours we met our trainers!  I have been ...

Week 3: Departure Approaching...Part 3

Image
Well everyone, another week at the MTC gone by, and another email written on a sticky key keyboard. Riveting stuff, let me tell ya. The last week has been great, hanging out with the district and enjoying feeling the Spirit throughout the week. It's been a lot of hard work with that 6:30am - 10:30 grind, filled class, devotionals, and CANC (Cannon Center) food 2.0. Seriously, the Spirit is so strong here. I feel like I'm having an outpouring of God's love and of the Holy Ghost surrounded by hundreds of people learning how to help others come closer to Christ. Bearing our testimonies with the district is some of the highlights of my MTC experience and is seriously some of the better spiritual experiences I've had. In all honesty, other than the Spirit felt here, not too much has happened this week that's really email-worthy. But here's some pictures...   (The district in front of the iconic scripture from Matthew 28:19) (A view of the Temple from the 6th floor of...
