Week 5: Musings of a Missionary

Well how's it going everyone? Very busy week here in Henderson. We did a lot of service and didn't have too many lessons (i.e. we did a lot of finding and some knocking on doors which was interesting). We actually don't go knocking door to door anymore because it's not that effective at finding people to teach. Instead we do what's called Spirit-led door knocking. We basically go around and if we feel prompted by the Spirit to knock on a door, we do it. It is actually really cool and works much better than knocking on every door. We've had some pretty promising friends because of it.

Anyways, overall it was a good week. We had interviews with our Mission President on Friday which was really nice. I really like President Alder as he's super kind and understanding. He also was kind enough to meet with one of our friends and have a lesson with him despite his crazy busy schedule. This particular friend is going through a lot and if y'all could pray for Alan, that would be awesome. He has such a strong testimony of the Church and particularly of the Book of Mormon, but is struggling with a variety of things.

Saturday night was interesting. Henderson was putting on some sort of festival with a bunch of food trucks and a big stage for music. There were so many people and we thought we could have some good conversations with some people. We got out with a couple of copies of the Book of Mormon and went out to go talk with people. Unfortunately, it was just kind of hard to feel the Spirit there so we ended up leaving after about 10 minutes of walking around. I'm sure it was fun for everyone in town, but it just wasn't the best place for us to be, so we just went back to the apartment.

Anyways, I hope y'all are doing great! Overall I'm mostly enjoying being a missionary, even though it's exhausting work. Until next week!

Love you all!

3) we're supposed to do 30 minutes of Facebook work each day. It's different... I need to have more faith...
