Week 11: Update - It's That Time Again
To prevent my Mission President from commenting on my length of hair, I'm currently vibing in a Great Clips in Evansville, Indiana. Grand old time listening to Bohemian Rhapsody – a classic indeed.
Anyways, this past week has been great! We had so many good lessons and contacts with our friends, and we think that several of them are progressing well, which is awesome. We also had a baptism!!! Of course, it was a members' 8 year old child, but the missionaries have been teaching them for a bit, so it's a win! Elder Carlson was able to baptize him (twice - like me, lol) and I was blessed with the opportunity to be voice for the Confirmation which was really cool. He's such a smart kid, and wants to be a missionary one day :)
Anyways, now to the funny stuff. Hugged by a drunk lady this week (apostate on about 6 different levels, but it's complicated). We're teaching her, but apparently it was her birthday this week and she was celebrating. It was weird. But we taught her about the pre-mortal life, so maybe it was only apostate on 4 levels 🤔
Ate at Texas Roadhouse for the first time on Friday for District Lunch. Pretty good not going to lie. One of the Sisters "thought" it was Elder Carlson's birthday and told the staff, so he enjoyed riding the saddle. It was so awkward, yet funny as they yelled for the whole roadhouse that Elder Carlson turned 25 that day. It was the closest Elder Carlson's gotten to ride a horse though in a year and a few months, so thats a win.
We also went to an Episcopal Church yesterday for one of our friends' pastor's retirement party. It was kind of awkward, but there were some really good people there. Awkward in the fact that they asked us if we wanted "Tea? Coffee? Wine?" We took the lemonade, and left the wine to the rest of the crowd. They didn't believe I was 19 on the wine front, which was kind of funny, but at the same time, oof.
Anyways, it was overall a good week. Missionary work is certainly demanding working all day every day (except for Monday), but it is rewarding. Also, hope y'all enjoyed the 5th Sunday discussion on Missionary work yesterday. Nothing like members squirming in their seat for being guilt-tripped. Don't feel guilty! Missionary work does not have to be hard! Just be normal and natural! Your presence in someone's life can be an impact on someone for good. And that's missionary work just as much as what someone with a name tag is doing.
Love y'all! Talk to y'all next week!
