Week 16: "Sean Tried To Put Me In the Dryer" (close quote)
Wow. This has easily been the longest week of my mission. But I guess it's been a solid 7 days, and I'm back to my part-time job of crafting humor via inadequate equipment. BUT, before we get to the weekly synopsis... shoutout to Sister Patterson vibing in the HMTC. Like, from my pov... slay.
Last week: Probably a high note of the mission thus far. Genuinely enjoyed myself.
This week: K so like everything fell through. Genuinely struggled.
ahahahahaha. I literally crack myself up.
But anyways, that is just what this week felt like. We had a couple of good random contacts and lessons, but I swear, all of our progressing people this week were just out of town, rescheduled, or didn't want to talk to us. Fun times. Especially fun when you're the only one familiar with the area and are scraping the bottom of the area book for someone to talk to, so that we don't have to do ANOTHER hour of facebook work. That, or just go to the park and talk to people (when it's raining). I guess Michael Scott put it best: "it's called 'Somehow I Manage.' "
That probably sounded like a rant. Hopefully not. There were good things this week, it was just hard. Take for example the subject line --- Recall the little girl from a few weeks go commenting about my acne. Please do not call CPS; I promise I did not put her in the dryer. That would be apostate. We were over there (for the last time sadly) and as she informed us... her friend Sean tried to put her in the dryer at their laundromat. Funny, but weird. Now regarding Mount Vernon, President Alder realized it's realistically a little too far a drive from Henderson for us, so now the Evansville Sisters are covering the Mount Vernon Branch. Big Sad. A lot of good work was up there.
It was really interesting though, because we did all day pass-off lessons with the Sisters on Saturday. Not entirely sure if that was allowed as it was an entire day of proselyting, but the zone leaders approved it, so I guess that's the dictatorship of the mission in action.
But, the work continues! Elder Kalb and I are vibing here and are enjoying the area! We look forward to what this transfer brings! Love you all, and talk to you next week!
