Week 18: 4 Months Amongst Us
Well Happy Monday Indeed!
I have officially been a missionary for 4 months now! Insane. I know. To think that I've spent a whole summer on the mission is mind-blowing. It wasn't a dream either because I have the mosquito scars to prove it. 🤪
But this week has been good and very busy. Being busy is always a good thing so that I don't go insane. Last Monday I took a trip back to my youth activities days and played some chair soccer with some other Elders for some <quality exercise.> Wow... I guess there was just nothing funny this week. Like I just realized that I descended to making a joke about exercise. Ugh. embarrassing.
I think I'm going to have to change up the format for this email. For a synopsis of my life as a missionary, see the superlatives of the week below...
Smallest World Moment:
Elder Wilkinson in my district is from Henderson, Nevada (and I'm like k cool, I'm from Henderson, Kentucky, and I'm like, also cool, I have family that live in Henderson, Nevada). Thus ensued a conversation about if he knew any Creers there, and I swear I've talked with him about this before, but he said "yeah... Joseph?" And I'm like yes! So there we go. The world of the Church is small. Elder Ryan Wilkonson says hello to Elder Joseph Creer in Bolivia. Apparently y'all went to high school/seminary together (?) He graduated in 2021 and went to BYU for a year, so...
Most Predicted Text Thread:
New STLs: "@Ethan Creer can you play the piano...? Asking for a friend"
Elder Creer: "Yep! I can!"
Also new STLs: "Cool! Would you be willing to play for zone Conference? Again, just asking for a friend...(side-eye emoji)"
(No commentary needed)
Most (how shall I put this...) <Vibrant> Conversation:
We had a lesson with this lady named Rhonda who is very invested in the Bible and loves to talk about it. We love to talk about it too! It basically turned into a big misunderstanding about how cross-references work. It was borderline bashing. It was weird.
Best Member Award:
The members showed up this week, so they all get the award. We had some members from Newburgh reach out to us and say that they'd be willing to come with us to a lesson with one of their co-workers. Pretty good lesson (other than the fact that he was wearing a Utah Utes shirt, but we'll let it slide...this time). We also went to a less active family this week, and they totally just fed us dinner unannounced. Pretty cool
Best (slash most surprising) Bumper Sticker:
See Picture Below (also see subject line)
Most Progressing Friend:
Alan (close quote). Pray for him plz, he's getting baptized soon.
Most Spiritual Moment:
We had interviews this week again! We enjoyed getting to hear from President and Sister Alder at District Council, and I enjoyed President Alder's specific guidance and counsel for me. He's an awesome mission president, and I'm so thankful that I get to serve here in the KLM with him.
Anyways, love y'all so much!! Hope that you will all have a great week!
