Week 28: s.o.c. training edition

Oh my goodness this week felt like an eternity. Like it was a good eternity (like really good), but like I'm so glad it's p-day.

Well, Tuesday was transfers. Woke up at an unheard time at 5:30am, so we could leave early to go pick up a loaner bike from the Evansville Bike apartment. We left around 6:30am, and then rear-ended a car 2 minutes from our apartment. Needless to say, we didn't go get the loaner bike and made it to transfers like 15 minutes late. tbh, it feels like a millenia ago, but here's the details. I was in the backseat, looking up directions to the EV Bike apt, and then I just hear Elder Wood yell car. We then hit the car. Elder Kalb hit the brakes, but we were still probably going like 5 or 10 mph. Thankfully no one was hurt, and both cars were still driveable, but yeah. Vibes. Since I'm 5 hours away now though, I don't have to deal with the paper work, so that's cool.

So next I guess, we get to transfers and have our little pre-training meeting (i.e. President telling us that we're so awesome, we're fantastic examples, we have the most important calling in the mission, you've got this, etc. etc. super riveting).  To get to some other stuff, I'll just say that I legit love my co-trainer, Elder Callahan, and my trainee, Elder Lichlyter. They are so funny, and I feel comfortable being absolutely hilarious around them. Close quote. Oh. We also stopped at Buc-ee's in Richmond, KY on our 2 1/2 hour drive from Louisville to Corbin. Buc-ee's is a Texas thing. Yet there's 1 in Kentucky. It was a vibe getting gas at pump 217, and I low-key kind of loved the store inside.

Next. I don't even know what we did Wednesday. Probably missionary work.

Next. Thanksgiving. No, missionaries don't get to go home for the holidays, but they do get to have some food with some members, if they offer to feed us. We had food at the Glatz family, who are hilarious. Yesterday, after Church, brother Glatz and I were talking, and referencing my little introduction I gave in Sacrament meeting, he sarcastically said, "I didn't believe a word you said, but..." and looked at me dead serious. Let's just say I like Brother Glatz and his humor. Anyways, we had two meals with members on Thursday (one with the Glatzes and another with the Lammars). Very nice people, and glad they welcomed us into their family for the day, while we couldn't be with ours in person. Also, the Glatzes just totally brought some family with them, and said that they could fill up the bathtub in 15 minutes and baptize them if they wanted after we shared a message. It was kind of weird and awkward, but it was also funny. We taught this new familiy the Restoration, and then referred them to their missionaries where they actually live. (i.e. I referred them to Sister Talbot, who was my ministering sister assignment at BYU.) Ok, I don't want to talk about Thanksgiving anymore. I didn't really get to talk to family because the WiFi was toon toe.

Friday was District Council in Somerset, KY. Gorgeous drive through Daniel Boone National Forest.

Saturday we probably contacted some people. Sunday as well.

We had 4 people come to Church this week which was probably the most I've seen, so that was pretty cool. I look forward to helping our friends progress here, but at the same time we haven't really seen any of them yet, as they've all not had time this past week.

Overall, this week has not really been too difficult adjusting. I've really enjoyed it here in Corbin, and look forward to what the transfer brings. Though I still miss Henderson quite a bit and it's still hard being a missionary, I'm looking forward to something fresh here. Hopefully we won't get in another wreck on these super windy Kentucky roads.

I don't really care about mustangs, but here you go if you like them I guess.
