Week 30: Christmas Happenings (big Jeremy or little Jeremy)
Happy last week of school y'all!
It's been a party here in Corbin, Kentucky, so hopefully you all are having an amazing holiday season!
Let's see. What even happened this week...
Well, we got accosted by a lady who wanted to sell us a $50 dollar bluetooth speaker lamp. Who also tried to steal my phone. So that was unique. We basically pull up to a friend's house, and she like walks up to our car as we were getting out and like is looking into our car and blocking Elder Callahan from getting out. Perhaps one of the fastest ways to stop teaching someone, as she then went into our friends house.
We also had a super fun youth activity with the ward on Wednesday in which we played Christmas games and had hot chocolate (that we're pretty sure was literally just melted Hershey's Kisses in a pot). We wrapped ourselves in wrapping paper and unfortunately the missionaries did not win. Though we definitely should have won. See pics. We're really trying to develop good relationships with the youth, and we think that coming to these youth activities is really helping out.
It rained this week. Like all day every day.
The subtle basher from last week... We taught them again yesterday. Found out his last name. Looked him up in our records. And found that he was a red dot. i.e. don't contact him. So that was fun. Except it's been like 3 years since he's been taught and he's super nice and plays tennis with some members in our ward, so we might still teach him...maybe. Hopefully we don't get accosted twice in 2 weeks.
Jeremy... We go to a referral on Thursday night named Jeremy, and we knock the door. His wife comes out, and we ask for him. She responds "big Jeremy or little Jeremy" in the most Kentucky accent I've heard. Couldn't understand her, so we asked her to repeat. She repeats, and we're like "we don't know." (Shocker, but the referral didn't have the title "big" or "little" in it). Anyways, she tells us that big Jeremy isn't home yet, but he will be home tomorrow. Well we come back the next night and totally had a miracle visit with him. He shared with us several challenges that he and his family were going through. We then testified of the Savior, Jesus Christ, and shared with him several scriptures that he enjoyed. He accepted a copy of the Bible and the Book of Mormon and seems eager to read both. We look forward to visiting big Jeremy tonight.
Went proselyting on the streets of London this week. They have a big Christmas tree in town that has lights synced to Christmas music, and it was fun to be referred to as JWs and what not as we tried to share with people the Light of the World. "No trust me, I'm Baptist, and my in-laws are Jehovah's Witnesses, I think I'm good." Like Sheeeeesh! Can we have a little charity for everyone? Including Jehovah's Witnesses?
Anyways, this emails getting too long...
We had a lot of amazing miracles this week, and have enjoyed testifying of the birth of Jesus Christ leading up to Christmas. Hopefully we'll be able to continue to see some of our friends progress.

Oh yeah, ZLC happened this week (some meeting that District Leaders have to go to). The ZLs gave us each presents as we told the group our favorite Christmas tradition. My present was 3 mint conditioned Hello Kitty toothbrushes, that I promptly used as my white elephant gift for the youth activity.
This picture literally cracks me up...
