Week 34: Part 6 happenings

Ok, we're a week into the worst month of the year! Only 3 weeks left!

Let's see, let's see. Well we had transfers on Tuesday, so that was unique. We drove up to Richmond Tuesday morning to drop off Elder Callahan. Pretty sad, but we still get to see him pretty often since he's our zone leader now. Then we drove back down to Corbin to work. Or should I say drove back down to Corbin. Oh my goodness, the day has finally come! I am now the designated driver! Ahh! I've been waiting for this forever! Amazing, let me tell you. Granted TiWi is a bot, and the Equinox is not a good car, but still. This'll probably be the nicest car I drive for a bit, so I'm not going to complain.

Ok, but I'll also just comment on the transition from trio to duo again. Basically it's the exact same transition from my 1st and 2nd transfer. We went from talking all the time, to not a lot of talk. And it's weirdly silent sometimes, but that's ok. We still like each other, it's just there's less to talk about now I guess...

Anyways, this week was a LOT of "unsuccessful" contacting. Granted everything we do is moving the work forward, but sometimes it feels like we're doing nothing. ANYways, on Saturday, after a long day of this driving and knocking, and driving and knocking, we go to a friend's house that we've been teaching. Long story short, his Grandpa let's us in and then proceeds to tell us about the current events of the day that we just "need" to know to be a missionary. Such details like "all the Senators and Representatives who voted to certify the 2020 election never left the capitol and were executed in the basement of the White House that same night" were at the top of his itemized list. Also, alien technology controls the nukes, because "there are aliens on the earth by the way." Needless to say, we didn't do much talking with the friend that we came to see. But we did give the Grandpa a Book of Mormon. Hopefully he doesn't go to conspiracy theory dot com to look up the plot of it. LOL

Anyways. This week was my first week as a district leader, and it was a little overwhelming at times. It just felt like there was one thing after another, after another being piled on my list of responsibilities. Thankfully though, after a week, I feel a lot better about it than I did towards the beginning. Our mission president a few weeks ago came out with an initiative to make this winter a spiritually transformative time, and I felt strong promptings to use that phrase and apply it to our district vision for the transfer. I trust it was revelation, and hope to see the miracles that this transfer will bring for the Cumberland District.

Anyways, we still don't have a friend on date for baptism, but President and Sister Alder came to our church on Sunday, and they talked with one of our friends afterwords who has been coming to church for more than a year now. I really enjoyed seeing how much President and Sister Alder loved getting to converse with the members of our ward here, and I think that they made a positive impact on our friends who came to church.

Anyways, this is getting too long. Hope all is well with everyone starting school back up. Turn to Jesus Christ and the scriptures this semester, and I promise that He will be able to help you through it!
