Week 35: Miracles from Above

Wow! This week has seriously been amazing! We have seen so many miracles, and it was super needed after last week's slump in the work.

We found 3 new friends this week and they all seem super promising (granted one of them is an excommunicated member, but hey, that's apart of the repentance process sometimes).

We also invited one of our friends to be baptized on Saturday! And she said YES! She said that she would do anything to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and have the constant companionship of the Spirit. It was a really cool lesson because Elder Lichlyter and I planned on teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to her, and were thinking of inviting her to be baptized. But we decided to just leave it as an option, and if the Spirit directs, we do it. Anyways, we get there, and it's just insane. There's dogs everywhere barking like crazy, the TV is on, and her sick Father in law is laying on a gurney in the room. So it was a little chaotic. Mind you, this is the first lesson we've had with Judy in person, so it was pretty interesting. Anyways, we start the lesson, and as we start saying the opening prayer it just went silent, and we felt the Spirit descend on the room. We talked about it afterwords, and Elder Lichlyter and I said that we both knew in that moment that we needed to invite her to be baptized. It was so cool :)

Anyways, she said that she would like to wait until it's warmer outside (like May), so we're going to make sure she understands that we're not going to baptize her outside in the freezing Cumberland River in the middle of February. We'll be sure to let her know that it can (and will) be indoors.

Anyways. Other than that, our district also just saw so many amazing miracles this week, and it was so cool. The Sisters up in Danville had their friend Robert get baptized on Saturday, and I had the opportunity to interview him on Wednesday. He's deaf, so it was pretty cool with an interpreter there too. Overall it was an experience to remember. Anyways, Robert also received the Aaronic Priesthood on Sunday and he's super excited to pass the Sacrament next week, and soon go to the Temple :) Apparently he was interviewed for the Priesthood before he received the Holy Ghost and was confirmed, and I'm not entirely sure if that's what the handbook calls for, but hey, I want the one running the show, so...

Anyways, this is getting long. I'll just end with how our the first counselor opened up Sacrament Meeting yesterday. Quote, "We'd like to welcome the so-and-so family into the ward from California. They recently moved in and they are happy to be here in Corbin and probably even happier to be out of California." (Close quote). Also not entirely sure if that is what the handbook calls for, but I guess that pretty much summarizes the area I'm serving in: No care in the world to speak their opinion. But we love them all.

Anyways, talk to you all next week, and hope you have a great day off for MLK day!
