Week 69: Day Trips to the Capitol

Holy cow this week has been an eternity! But at the same time, P-day feels like yesterday. I think it's just that so much has happened in the last 7 days. Time is just quirky like that, I guess.

Where to even start! So Monday night was epic. We had Labor Day dinner with some members and their friend Triny that we've been teaching for a few weeks now. We had one of the most spiritual lessons of my mission after dinner, and the lesson almost didn't happen. Pretty much Triny is like the most prepared person ever! She asked so many amazing questions and the members there did such a great job at helping her understand.

Tuesday we knocked some rich houses. I didn't know this, but apparently not everyone believes that Satan was a fallen son of God, therefore making him our brother, and technically, Christ's brother as well. We pretty much met someone who was very nice, but made it very clear that he did NOT believe Satan and Jesus were related in that way. I see where he was coming from, but it was just interesting. When we tried to focus on the things we do have in common, he quickly agreed but said the differences are VERY important and distinct. He pretty much said it in a patronizing tone making it sound like we were apostate or something. LOL. Guess it was for the memories. But I guess it's a truth that there is indeed an opposition in all things.

Wednesday we went to the Temple. It was a great experience. I was able to do an initiatory for the first time in about 18 months, which was really nice. Afterwords, we went to the mission office for lunch. Then we had to swing by the mission home to pick something up, and Sister McGinn was the best host ever and made us dessert. It was the best!

Then comes the rest of the week. Pretty much to sum it up would be to say I spent a lot of time in the capitol of Kentucky. I went on exchanges down in Frankfort with Elder Dixon, and enjoyed lots of different things. We did some facebook work on the steps of the Capitol Building which was an absolute vibe and super cool. I also met their friend named Greg who is working towards baptism. He is super fun.

Anyways, the day after exchanges we went back to Frankfort for a Stake service activity to clean up a graveyard. It was perhaps the best turnout I've ever seen for a service activity, with around 200 people there at this cemetery in the middle of Frankfort. It was crazy! Sister Bednar showed us some tombstones that had fallen over from the ground sinking in, so Elder Smith and I spent a lot of our time there digging up the stones, leveling the ground, and putting the stones back up. They were crazy heavy, and we enjoyed working with Triny and some guy who was from Germany on vacation. Both non-members! At the end we helped unload trailer after trailer of brush and tree limbs all from the cleanup effort that took place inside this relatively small cemetery. It was seriously so cool!

But anyways, this week was long, but it was really good. I'm looking forward to the last week of the transfer and am excited to put it all out there.

But yeah, ttfn!

Lol, I can't even say that with a straight face 😜

Much Love,
