Week 102: (hashtag)QuadLife

Image
Interesting Week. On Tuesday, I had my final regular scheduled interview with President McGinn. So that was kind of surreal. We talked about the final weeks of my mission and how I can carry that into the rest of my life. Being a missionary never stops. Some might even say #NewAlbanyNevaStops. Wednesday we had MLC which was definitely one of the more interesting ones I've attended. We had a great discussion about the blessings of attending Sacrament meeting on the morning. The entire afternoon was a discussion on how we're going to start keeping each other accountable for key indicators for conversion. Particularly monthly baptism goals. So it'll be interesting.  So in other news, the Bike Elders' apartment had a pipe collapse under their floor so they've been living with us since Wednesday. Their maintenance people have been quite the situation as they've dug an absolute trench all throughout their apartment. The quad life has been interesting. Thankfully we ha...

Week 101: Thunder Over Louisville

Image
What a Week! We're ending with a bang over here in the KLM, that's for sure! This past week was pretty fun. We did a lot of hard work out in the heat, but it was worth it as we found a lot of cool new potentials. It's been reminding me of my Winchester and Shelbyville days with the sunny heat we've been getting. It seriously has been gorgeous weather. We found a lot of cool new people this week, and we're excited to meet again with them this coming week. We went on exchanges with the Bike Elders this week. I stayed here in New Albany with my son(!) Elder Lichlyter which was a super fun reunion exchange. It was kind of crazy since we've hardly served around each other since our time in Corbin, and it was so good to be together again. We started our exchange by selling my bike to some guy named Ethan in a Bass Pro Shops parking lot. So that was a vibe. The only problem is that he paid in cash and the nearest Bank of America ATM is in Lexington. So rip. But it'...

Week 100! Eclipse Over Louisville

Image
Y'all. Last P-day is up there as one of my favorites from the mission. It was so heat. The Total Eclipse was last Monday, and so we had District P-day around it. We all went to Wal-Mart together and got a bunch of food to grill out with, and then went back and grilled up some burgers, hot dogs, and pineapple and had a grand old time. After the food, we headed over to the walking bridge that spans the Ohio River from Louisville over to Indiana, and we watched the eclipse as a district. We were at about 99.5% totality, so we were just outside of totality, but it got pretty dark and the lights on the bridges turned on, which was super cool. It was honestly such a vibe, and I loved it so much. I kind of want to be back in Louisville on that bridge 21 years from now when the next big total eclipse happens. It would kind of be fun to reminisce lol. But other than that, it was another week of missionary work. But not just any week. My 100th week! Holy Cow, that's ludicrous to think ab...

Week 99: Cincy Tornadoes

Image
Hey Hey Hey!!! How's it going y'all?! Hope you had a wonderful conference weekend, as I know I did!! So excited for the Temple in Cincinnati!!! Been praying for that one for years, so so grateful that it's finally happening! But first off, it's finally April which is just insane! I literally go home next month, which is so weird to think. On Tuesday though, I went on exchanges with the Charlestown Elders which was pretty fun. We enjoyed teaching one of their friends on date who is super elect, and she's getting baptized this coming Saturday! It was also an exciting exchange because there was some pretty sever storms and a couple of tornado sirens went off. Some tornadoes touched down near us, but thankfully we were ok. I wish I could be here another summer to have some more Kentuckiana thunderstorms in the summer. It's seriously like my favorite weather.  The rest of the week was spent getting ready for General Conference with inviting anyone and everyone to w...

Week 98: Picturesque Thai

Hey hey hey party peeps! How's it going? Good week in the KLM. Indiana is a vibe, and I got to see a lot of a lot of Southern Indiana this week as we went on exchanges with the Tell City Elders. I went there with Elder Meilstrup, which was a fun little reunion from back when I was his district leader in Winchester. We got some fun work done there and even crossed over into the Kentucky half of their area and found a few potentials. We exchanged back that night over in New Albany as we had Zone Conference the next day, so we just had all of us stay the night in New Albany. Zone conference was good. It wasn't anything too crazy. It started to hit me that I'm the next group for giving departing testimonies, so that's super weird. We emphasized Preach My Gospel a lot as well as our purpose as missionaries and it sounded like the zone really enjoyed it. The rest of the week was good. We exchanged with the Clarksville Bike Elders, and I stayed in New Albany with Elder Crane f...
