Week 10: Let Me Just Pull Out My Brain Washing USB Stick Real Quick

Image
10 weeks in I guess. That's kind of crazy. It's gone by so fast, but at the same time I feel like I've been a missionary forever. Now brace yourself for what I'm about to say. I don't want anyone to like fall off the chair on this one or anything. That would be terrifying and I would feel guilt for a few seconds. Here it is: "time is weird on the mission." Anyways, transfers were this week, and we lost Elder Hayes which was pretty sad. I'm now in a normal duo which is kind of a different experience. Duos are just a little quieter, but it's still fun.  I'm getting pretty used to just walking out into a sauna everyday. The humidity here is pretty much like Arkansas and is a vibe and a half. My clothes are basically sticking to me by the end of the day, and it's straight disgusting. Hope y'all enjoyed the TMI. We were cast out of someone's presence yesterday, which was unique. We were just walking up to them to ask a question about the...

Week 9: A Week Indeed

Image
Wow was this a long week. It's been a bit of a trip, not going to lie. I honestly can't even remember half the stuff we did it was so busy. I'm kind of mentally drained from it, so if I'm not captivating enough today, like just take a long deep breath. I hope y'all will be able to spiritually and temporally survive until next week. On the eventful side of things, we drove the two hour journey to Louisville on Wednesday for new missionary training with another companionship in my district (Elder Helm and Elder Homan). All the missionaries who started at the beginning of June (like the 15-20 of us) along with their companions were there, which was kind of fun because I got to see my MTC comp again. ;) Funny enough, I was not asked to play the piano at the training. More on that later... After the training we went over to the Louisville Temple to just take some pictures and walk the grounds for a few minutes. It was nice. I wish we could've gone in, but it was clos...

Week 8: Musings of a Missionary

Image
This week was both a blur and went by crazy fast, but also like super long and exhausting, so I guess that's mission life for you. Zone conference was absolutely amazing. I loved feeling the Spirit throughout the day filled with guidance from our mission leaders. It was a great day to just take a step back and breathe for a second. As I said last week, I played the piano for zone conference which went well I guess. It's always good when you don't embarrass yourself in front of like 40 people. Actually there was a pretty cool miracle about playing the piano. Sister Alder had a prompting to change the closing hymn to "I Am a Child of God."  When that was announced (like right as we were about to sing the closing hymn) she just kind of looked at me and I at her. And I'm like telling her via body language, "play it plz" (because she's an amazing playing piano player). Thankfully she did, since I hadn't practiced that song in a hot minute. But yea...

Week 7: Scrumptious - Adjective: "extremely pleasing to the sense of taste" - our dank dictionary app

Well, I guess it's been a week hasn't it. I guess I'll write an email for y'all since every week you're so enamored with my dripping sarcasm and wonderful use of prose in the English language. Fun times in the mission this past week. My district leader somehow got the impression that I was a good piano player from stumbling through the right hand of "If You Could Hie to Kolob" during district council a few weeks ago. Naturally, he told the STLs that I would be able to play the piano for Zone Conference this coming week, so that's lit. This is probably borderline gossip which is essentially apostate in the mission, so I'll just leave it at that. (I do like my district leader, I just found it so funny. Also I just need some sarcasm in my life right now. Who doesn't?) That same district leader asked me to play the piano for a Marshallese baptism this past Saturday which was actually pretty cool. The Marshallese people are so awesome, loving, and f...
