Week 19: Happenings

Image
Well, it's been a week. Happy P-day to me I guess. This week was interesting. We went on exchanges with the DL, and I was here in Henderson with Elder Wood. We had a really good lesson with Alan on the Commandments, which he really enjoyed. The man straight up read lesson 4 in Preach My Gospel, so he basically knew it all. Oh and he also read the missionary standards (the rules) to which he said "Y'all go through such a <grueling> schedule and have to go through <so> much stuff". Tell me about it buddy. Tell me about it. Anyways, he's golden and we love him to death. He will get baptized soon. Other than that, this week felt like an eternity. I was slightly going insane by the end of it. something about that "grueling schedule" am i right??? Also, I learned how to crochet. That was unique. One of our friends runs a Prayer Shawl Ministry for her church and we were invited to come with. Picture this: two teenage men in white shirts and a tie ...

Week 18: 4 Months Amongst Us

Well Happy Monday Indeed! I have officially been a missionary for 4 months now! Insane. I know. To think that I've spent a whole summer on the mission is mind-blowing. It wasn't a dream either because I have the mosquito scars to prove it. 🤪 But this week has been good and very busy. Being busy is always a good thing so that I don't go insane. Last Monday I took a trip back to my youth activities days and played some chair soccer with some other Elders for some <quality exercise.>  Wow... I guess there was just nothing funny this week. Like I just realized that I descended to making a joke about exercise. Ugh. embarrassing. I think I'm going to have to change up the format for this email. For a synopsis of my life as a missionary, see the superlatives of the week below... Smallest World Moment: Elder Wilkinson in my district is from Henderson, Nevada (and I'm like k cool, I'm from Henderson, Kentucky, and I'm like, also cool, I have family that live...

Week 17: Noah Scented Mayo, Birthdays, a Guitar, and a John Smith Look-a-like

Well howdy howdy! Week 17 is in the books! Much better week this week than last thankfully. We had a few set backs with my companion feeling a little sick for a bit (not covid THANKFULLY (I would die)), but we had a lot of good lessons and contacts. It's almost like it's genuinely enjoyable when things don't fall through 🤪. Anyways, so every Tuesday we have a mission wide zoom call in order to gather as a mission and discuss <the work> (<> means italics when you're writing an email on a phone...). This past Tuesday we had the opportunity to hear from Elder John Groberg. I thought that name sounded familiar when I heard it a couple of weeks ago when it was first announced. But I didn't realize until Tuesday (when they just casually started playing clips from The Other Side of Heaven) (oh wait, I need to add a <> to the title. I can't go back to jail) that it's the guy the movies are based off of. That was pretty cool I guess. He shared a lo...

Week 16: "Sean Tried To Put Me In the Dryer" (close quote)

Wow. This has easily been the longest week of my mission. But I guess it's been a solid 7 days, and I'm back to my part-time job of crafting humor via inadequate equipment. BUT, before we get to the weekly synopsis... shoutout to Sister Patterson vibing in the HMTC. Like, from my pov... slay. Last week: Probably a high note of the mission thus far. Genuinely enjoyed myself. This week: K so like everything fell through. Genuinely struggled. ahahahahaha. I literally crack myself up. But anyways, that is just what this week felt like. We had a couple of good random contacts and lessons, but I swear, all of our progressing people this week were just out of town, rescheduled, or didn't want to talk to us. Fun times. Especially fun when you're the only one familiar with the area and are scraping the bottom of the area book for someone to talk to, so that we don't have to do ANOTHER hour of facebook work. That, or just go to the park and talk to people (when it's raini...
