Week 28: s.o.c. training edition

Image
Oh my goodness this week felt like an eternity. Like it was a good eternity (like really good), but like I'm so glad it's p-day. Well, Tuesday was transfers. Woke up at an unheard time at 5:30am, so we could leave early to go pick up a loaner bike from the Evansville Bike apartment. We left around 6:30am, and then rear-ended a car 2 minutes from our apartment. Needless to say, we didn't go get the loaner bike and made it to transfers like 15 minutes late. tbh, it feels like a millenia ago, but here's the details. I was in the backseat, looking up directions to the EV Bike apt, and then I just hear Elder Wood yell car. We then hit the car. Elder Kalb hit the brakes, but we were still probably going like 5 or 10 mph. Thankfully no one was hurt, and both cars were still driveable, but yeah. Vibes. Since I'm 5 hours away now though, I don't have to deal with the paper work, so that's cool. So next I guess, we get to transfers and have our little pre-training m...

Week 27: you know I love a London boy

Image
Well friends, I'm moving. The Lord has called me away from Henderson. In fact, He has called me to the clear opposite side of the mission. Tomorrow I'll be moving out to Corbin, Kentucky and serving in the ward there in a trio. I'll be with Elder Callahan and we'll be training a brand new missionary. So I guess that means I'm now a Dad on the mission. So that's a change I guess. I'm honestly pretty excited. Corbin is like right in Daniel Boone National Forest, and from the pictures is looks pretty awesome. I'll miss Henderson so much, especially the people I've met and taught, but I look forward to having something fresh. To explain the subject line. Please refresh yourself with Taylor Swift's "London Boy." Corbin includes a town named London. No further explanation needed. ANYways (hopefully you read that the way I would say it lol). This week has been super fun, and we've been dilligently serving in two areas. This week we've ...

Week 26: trio life 2.0 (oh, and also 6 months)

Image
What a week! Zone conference was on Tuesday, and it was awesome. Loved getting to feel the Spirit in abundance, and enjoyed getting to gather as a Zone again (crazy it was my 4th one here already). We talked about the Light the World campaign which will launch in a few days, and I'm pretty excited to be a missionary for it. We were also informed that the area presidency wants missionaries to be going to the temple more often. So now we'll get to go once every 3 or so transfers, which is really great. I definitely have missed the temple being a missionary. So 6 months. On Wednesday I will be a quarter of the way done with my mission. Feels like an eternity, but also feels like a blur, so "Forward pressing forward" I guess. Thursday saw me on an exchange here in Henderson (getting to drive again, which was great). I was with a new missionary who's reassigned here before he gets his visa for Peru. We enjoyed getting to rake more leaves (eye-roll) and teaching sever...

Week 25: Ramblings

Image
Well. It's been a week. To start, I'll say I'm mentally drained. So apologies in advance if this email isn't riveting, as they all too often are. I also forgot my keyboard and am subsequently texting this email out, so...yeah...this'll be stream of consciousness style. Perhaps my favorite writing style learned in 10th grade English  This week was interesting...not a whole lot of lessons. It wasn't that fun. But, that's how missionary work is sometimes. Monday night we had our mission wide Halloween devotional. "Faith over fear" was the theme. Not the most exciting thing... but I guess it prevented us from being kidnapped on the streets or something like that. And then November came. Shout to Grace  who's not a minor anymore. I still have fond memories of the day I turned 18.  Lol. Scratch that. I don't think I remember a single thing from that day, without looking at pictures. Anyways, Happy Birthday Grace! We helped at the Salvation Army s...
