Week 32: "For Unto You is Born This Day"

Image
Merry Christmas friends and family! I hope you have all had an amazing weekend focusing on the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ and enjoying spending time with loved ones! It has been a week here in Kentucky! Like seriously we've done so much, and it's been awesome! Last Monday we went caving with the district. Weird. There were bats. Wasn't the most fun, but was a cool experience I guess. I hadn't talked to family yet though, so I was pretty much ready to be done once when it hit 4:30 and we still needed to eat and talk to the fam. We then went caroling as a district for our Monday proselyting hours. Some guy tried to give us $100 for our singing. We declined and said we're not allowed to take money. He insisted that we donated it to our Church. We said no. He then got us brownies instead. (Before walking into the glass door and slamming his face).  We also had interviews this week, which was great as well. And then we were hit by the winter storm. We were force...

Week 31: Tennessee, lol

Well. It's that time a week again. Welcome back to Elder Creer's monologue.  This week was pretty good. We had Christmas Zone conference on Friday, and it was awesome. It was a few hours shorter than a normal zone conference, but we enjoyed getting to hear special musical numbers and focusing on the birth of our Savior. We also had a white elephant exchange, and did some skits, so it was nice to feel like a normal person again. President Alder also read to us "Twas the night before Christmas," which in past years I probably couldn't care less about. But as President Alder read that to all the missionaries at Zone conference, I could feel the deep love and respect that him and Sister Alder have for each individual missionary they've worked with.   Zone Conference was up in Lexington, and it was kind of crazy to see a Gold Star Chili there. It's weird to think that I'm literally serving like 3 hours from Cincinnati. I still have yet to eat at Gold Star, ...

Week 30: Christmas Happenings (big Jeremy or little Jeremy)

Happy last week of school y'all! It's been a party here in Corbin, Kentucky, so hopefully you all are having an amazing holiday season! Let's see. What even happened this week... Well, we got accosted by a lady who wanted to sell us a $50 dollar bluetooth speaker lamp. Who also tried to steal my phone. So that was unique. We basically pull up to a friend's house, and she like walks up to our car as we were getting out and like is looking into our car and blocking Elder Callahan from getting out. Perhaps one of the fastest ways to stop teaching someone, as she then went into our friends house. We also had a super fun youth activity with the ward on Wednesday in which we played Christmas games and had hot chocolate (that we're pretty sure was literally just melted Hershey's Kisses in a pot). We wrapped ourselves in wrapping paper and unfortunately the missionaries did not win. Though we definitely should have won. See pics. We're really trying to develop good ...

Week 29: *insert some subject line, I just can't think of a good one*

Hi. Elder Creer again. Happy December. Overall a pretty interesting week. We contaccted a lot of referrals this week and found not a whole lot of success. But that's all good, we did see several awesome miracles that helped lift our spirits over the lull in the work. We had a lesson with a young adullt and his friend wearing a religious school college sweatshirt (if that makes any sense).  Anyways, low key thought they were going to bash us. Especially when they started asking questions (in the public library btw) like "not trying to cause any contention here, but..." It was kind of funny, but it turns out they were just genuinely interested and asking curious questions. Now not entirely convinced that they aren't playing the long game with us, but I guess we'll see next Saturday at the library. Hopefully, you know, they actually consider that we teach about Jesus and not polygamy or being saved by works. Lol. We also had Stake conference in Lexington this past ...
